Through the Economic Development Authority and the Board of Public Utilities, New Jersey was able to invest $200 million in reconstruction projects in which cogeneration plays a key role. During catastrophic events such as hurricanes, critical structures take the hardest hit. For this reason 9 hospitals and 3 wastewater treatment sites have been equipped with cogeneration plants. The fact that this type of plant can continue to generate energy despite blackouts, allows structures considered critical to be resilient.
