Biomethane boom in Brazil: Abiogás highlights sector growth
Market and policy
Renata Isfer, CEO of Abiogás, shared the success of the 12th Biogas Forum, an event that exceeded all attendance expectations. This is a clear sign of growing interest in biomethane, a rapidly expanding market in Brazil. In just one year, authorized plants have increased from 6 to 16, with over 35 awaiting approval. Current production is around one million cubic meters per day, but the ambitious goal is to reach 8 million by 2030. Investments are strong and involve the entire supply chain, from producers to logistics. In this context, Abiogás plays a strategic role: pushing for targeted public policies, from the introduction of a specific mandate to the creation of a guarantee of origin certificate for biomethane.
