Biomethane hydrogen with the Thermal Plasma Electrolysis technology
Hydrogen is the fuel of the future, but how can we produce it by cutting emissions and counting on economic feasibility? The "Thermal Plasma Electrolysis" technology makes it possible to dissociate the individual elements contained in the hydrocarbons used to produce hydrogen (whether they are natural gas or biomethane) and reduce them into basic elements, while eliminating emissions into the atmosphere, unlike what happens with the SMR technology typically used for the production of hydrogen. TPE also saves energy compared to water electrolysis, a green technology for the production of hydrogen, but with a considerable expenditure of energy. We asked Sandy Arbuthnott what positive implications this technology can have on the Scottish energy market.
