CHP in the Midwest region
Market and policy
In the Midwestern United States, CHP can fit within different strategic plans and objectives concerning energy. For example, in Illinois, utilities can join energy efficiency programmes offering incentives up to $0.18 per kWh and can benefit from free feasibility studies. In addition, many energy-intensive companies are concentrated in the region, as well as wastewater treatment centres or greenhouses that could benefit from the use of CHP in terms of efficiency and decarbonisation.
