In Mexico, CHP has become a point of reference for the wholesale electricity market, in that the surplus energy produced by a CHP system is sold to the market. This type of energy has the advantage of being permanently available and doesn’t require the use of fossil fuels. CHP technology can also obtain clean energy certification and be certified by the CRE, which regulates the energy market in Mexico.
