With regard to the South-Western European region, Tagliabue underlines how diverse the countries in this geographical area are. Indeed, while Italy still holds an important position in the cogeneration sector, the same cannot be said for Spain and Portugal, which came to a standstill following the 2008 crisis. In any case, the EU Member States must strive in general to finance new projects and to support countries in difficulty.
