Cogeneration, a blackout-proof technology
Market and policy
The Ontario region does not suffer from any electricity brownouts and is able to reduce CO2 emissions. All this thanks to cogeneration, which happens to be the selected technology to produce energy. Cogeneration also means resilience, especially during weather events such as the ice storm and flood that hit Ontario in 2013; on this occasion, in fact, companies that had a cogeneration plant were able to continue their business operations despite the continuous blackouts.
