Cogeneration plant at the Morristown Medical Centre: energy resilience and cost savings for the hospital
Industry and tertiary sector
The Morristown Medical Centre has installed a cogeneration plant to ensure energy continuity during blackouts. The project, started ten years ago, has led to the integration of a 4.6 MW solar turbine with an automated switching system powered by two distinct district utilities that guarantee greater reliability. This system has reduced energy costs by about $3.4 million a year and meets 67% of the hospital’s electricity and more than 50% of its steam needs.
