eNature Greenhouses joins the CHPSOP Program and invests in cogeneration
Case history
Another Canadian greenhouse, eNature Greenhouses, joined the CHPSOP program and installed two cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 5.4 MW. When the demand for energy increases the cogeneration plant supply electricity to the town of Carlisle in Ontario, where the company has been growing cucumbers since 2005. eNature feeds 100% of the electricity to the local grid, thermal energy is stored in thermal accumulators and used at night or in cold periods, while the CO2 produced is used to grow cucumbers in the greenhouses. An efficient way to use energy and to cut production costs.
