France leader in the biomethane sector in Europe, but the goal by 2030 concerns the whole continent: reaching 35 bcm of sustainable biomethane
Market and policy
If we look at the European biogas market, Germany has always been the leader in terms of the number of plants. Speaking of biomethane, on the other hand, it is France that takes the lead, followed by countries such as Italy, Denmark or Holland. The growth of the sector in different countries is, as always, influenced by factors such as incentives, state support or the availability of raw materials. One thing, however, unites the entire continent: exploiting the potential of each country, a production level of 35 million cubic metres of biomethane, entirely produced with sustainable biomass, could be reached by 2030.
