How has the cogeneration market changed in the US in the last 20 years?
Market and policy
According to an ICF study, in the last 10 years, compared to the previous 10, cogeneration in the United States has seen a downsizing towards smaller plants for the residential and commercial sector, increasingly powered with renewable sources such as biogas and biomass. Moreover, cogeneration systems are becoming critical in the event of natural disasters, to help keep essential structures such as hospitals operational and guarantee a base load for microgrids when renewable sources are not available.
