How to reduce energy costs and the environmental impact in a company making automotive components
Case history
Install a 2 MW trigeneration plant to reduce energy costs and limit the environmental impact which results from the production processes. This was the decision taken by Denso Thermal Systems, which, at its facilities in Avellino (Italy), produces heat exchangers and plastic components for cars. By using this plant the firm was in fact able to produce half of its own electricity requirements. In its first year of use the plant had an overall efficiency of 75%, with a consequent reduction in the electricity requirements of 40%, a cost saving of approx. 700,000 euros and a reduction in CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. In view of the results achieved, its associate company in Turin has also decided to install a cogeneration plant.
