In the USA, 13% of the energy produced from cogeneration is in the paper industry
Industry and tertiary sector
As the director of the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the DOE explains, in the USA, 13% of the energy produced by cogeneration is generated by plants installed in the paper industries. What’s more, since 2015, the installed capacity has increased by 460 MW thanks to this industry. With the integration of renewable energies, it is also possible to sell the surplus energy produced by the cogeneration plant when the renewables are available to the grid, guaranteeing an additional income and greater competitiveness to the company.
