Inflation Reduction Act: the law to fight climate change - part 1
Market and policy
In this first part of the interview, Katie Cullen explains the mechanism of the Inflation Reduction Act. The IRA, in fact, is one of the most important laws adopted in the US to support the ecological transition. The system provides for the so-called transferability of the credit, allowing the transfer of tax credits to third parties.
Cogeneration is included in this system, but the credits will end at the end of 2024 for plants powered by natural gas as the latter is a fossil fuel, while they will continue to exist for plants that will be powered by biomethane or biogas, where the "technology neutral credit" is provided for to encourage the use of biofuels and the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2025.
