Italy: Over 300 applications in the fifth biomethane auction, 2030 target within reach
Market and policy
In Italy, the fifth competitive procedure under DM 2022 for biomethane development has received over 300 applications for nearly 1.2 billion cubic meters of biomethane to be allocated. The GSE, responsible for analyzing the applications, will present the results in mid-April. By adding the 260 applications already approved in the previous four calls, it aims to complete the PNRR investment line with over 3.2 billion cubic meters of allocated biomethane.
These figures confirm the sector's central role and the progress toward the 2030 target of 5 billion cubic meters, as explained by Paolo Arrigoni, President of GSE.
