Pennsylvania supports the development of cogeneration thanks to a decree implemented in 2018
Market and policy
We met the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission at Cogeneration Day USA, where he explained what this governmental agency is doing to promote cogeneration. In particular, the Commission assesses and approves utility projects and is committed to promoting energy efficiency. In 2018, the Commission also approved a decree promoting the use of cogeneration as a tool to make and improve energy efficiency in utilities. Utilities are reporting the results of their projects to the Commission, which plans to continue to invest more and more in this technology, also because it is resilient and can be integrated in a microgrid context.
