Synergies between green hydrogen and biomethane
Market and policy
Both hydrogen and biomethane are alternative gases with strong potential. Both must be part of the energy mix of the near future. Which of the two gases is best suited for the transition? The choice is not clear cut and to meet the overall energy demand both must be taken into consideration, especially when combined. By using the residual CO2 of biomethane together with green hydrogen, it is in fact possible to obtain synthetic methane that could be fed into the gas network.
