The role of SEA-LNG and bio-LNG in decarbonising maritime transport
SEA-LNG is a global organisation that brings together the entire maritime value chain, from fuel suppliers to shipowners, ports and financial stakeholders, with the aim of promoting the use of LNG as a marine fuel. The association works to raise awareness of the environmental and economic benefits of LNG and its evolution towards more sustainable variants such as biomethane. Bio-LNG can make the maritime sector more competitive while reducing emissions. LNG already has lower emissions than traditional fuels and enables a gradual transition by replacing fossil molecules with renewable ones. This pathway is considered one of the most credible because it is technologically mature, safe and among the most cost-effective solutions for decarbonising maritime transport.
