US Department of Energy: Efficient and flexible cogeneration beneficial for decarbonisation by 2050
Market and policy
In America the IEDO, the Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonisation Office (within the Department of Energy) is working on two fronts to reduce CO2 emissions. First, through the "Research Development Demonstration Programme", to promote and encourage the use of cogeneration with renewable sources such as biogas, biomethane and hydrogen; second, thanks to the "Technical Assistance Programmes", to support companies in the implementation of their projects. The IEDO sees cogeneration as an efficient and flexible technology to achieve the 2050 decarbonization targets.
