USA: evaluating the price of energy for effective cogeneration
Market and policy
As Anne Hampson from the ICF International consulting company comments, before installing a cogeneration plant it is necessary to evaluate and have a very clear idea of the spark spread value and of how energy tariffs are structured. In the USA, each utility has different tariff structures accompanied by different variables; ICF sustains that for cogeneration plants it is better to have a more balance rate structure that has more energy charges vs. demand charges.
