With the Biogas Route, the Valencian Community intends to produce 2.34 TW/h of biomethane by 2030
Market and policy
In 2022, the Valencian Community presented the “Biogas Route”, a roadmap that analyses the potential for biomethane production from different types of residues (WWT, agricultural and agri-food waste). The Route includes a 2030 strategy that envisages producing an amount of biomethane equivalent to about 60% of the methane consumption of homes in the Valencian Community. In fact, the potential of biomethane for 2030 is 2.34 TW/h, of which two thirds for injection into the network and used for transport and industry; all with a 17% reduction in direct methane emissions, equal to 3% of CO2 emissions of the entire Autonomous Community.
