With Trump, natural gas takes center stage and cogeneration benefits
Market and policy
Katie Cullen, Founding Partner at SC Partners, explains that U.S. energy policy has changed significantly from the Biden to the Trump administration: the new leadership is focusing on natural gas while cutting back support for wind and solar. With the rapid growth of AI and data centers, every bit of available energy will be needed. Cogeneration (CHP) fits well into this strategy, as it primarily relies on natural gas—a Trump priority. The CHP Alliance is working to have this technology included in “tech-neutral” tax credits, presenting life cycle analyses and seeking political support to highlight its efficiency and contribution to emission reduction.
