4,400 companies in the USA have chosen cogeneration
Market and policy
In the USA more than 4,400 companies and bodies have a cogeneration plant. Installed capacity at present is 83 GW, constituting 12% of the nation’s current electricity production. Cogeneration technology looks like a winner for critical infrastructures - in other words buildings that house activities requiring constant energy; for this reason the DOE has set up the CHP Resiliency Accelerator programme, to educate the whole community about the opportunities offered by cogeneration.
