Biological conversion of CO2 to methane as an innovative method for biogas upgrading
What is biomethane/RNG?
Polimi has developed an innovative method for upgrading biogas, which is cheaper and less energy-intensive than current solutions. This new technology enables the biological conversion of CO2 to methane and, in the context of anaerobic digestion where CO2 is created thanks to the fermentation of by-products, it provides for the methanisation of H2 (hydrogen) and therefore the production of biomethane/RNG.
