Biomethane for Road and Maritime Transport in Poland: Interview with the Polish LNG & bioLNG Platform
Sustainable mobility
In Poland, the Polish LNG & bioLNG Platform (Polska Platforma LNG i bioLNG) promotes the use of LNG and bioLNG to decarbonise road and maritime transport. The country already has solid infrastructure, with around 25 refuelling stations and 3,000 trucks ready to use bioLNG. However, liquefied biomethane is currently imported, resulting in high costs that limit its competitiveness. A turning point may come in 2025, with the launch of the first national biomethane production plant. To truly unlock the market, simpler regulations and stronger support for liquefaction plants are needed.
