Biomethane for the decarbonisation of the oil and gas sector in Brazil
Market and policy
Can biomethane contribute to the decarbonisation of the oil and gas sector in Brazil? We asked Sylvie D'Apote from the IBP association – Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis – which represents the oil and gas sector in the country. Sylvie explained that numerous producers associated with IBP are already investing in biomethane with major projects, particularly in Europe and the United States. The development potential of the biomethane sector is very high even in Brazil, but at the moment it is still at an early stage.
