Guarantees of Origin in the new European context: Edison’s point of view
Market and policy
Edison, a long-time partner of biomethane producers, discusses in this interview the topic of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) within the European context. With the activation of a common European registry, created with the goal of tracking all sustainability generated by the plants, it will be crucial to ensure integration between the various national systems. According to Andrea Qualiano, Head of Green Gas Origination & Gas Supply Portfolio Decarbonization at Edison, Italy has an advantage: the national system adopts a single GO, which includes both the sustainability declaration of the feedstocks and the sustainability certification—elements that are usually handled separately in the rest of Europe.
