Biomethane in Ireland: what an agricultural entrepreneur has to say
Applications and technologies
We asked several companies, politicians and associations for their views on the recent National Biomethane Strategy in Ireland. In this interview we finally leave the floor to a farmer! Brugha Duffy, cattle breeder and AD operator, praises the new strategy as an important step, but stresses that it alone is not enough to give momentum to the biomethane sector. The Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO) and the Capital Grant Scheme, which is expected to be published soon, will be fundamental in this regard. Meanwhile, Brugha Duffy is already planning a 40-gigawatt agricultural biomethane project, with grid-connected gas production and sustainable digestate management.
