Biomethane in the United Kingdom: a fast-growing sector

The UK government has just extended the Green Gas Support Scheme for two more years, the main public incentive programme supporting biomethane production and grid injection, giving new momentum to the sector while awaiting long-term structural measures. As Chris Huhne, Chair of ADBA, explains, biomethane is a key resource to achieve net zero emissions. ADBA, which represents the 750 biogas plants operating in the country, also highlights the economic benefits for citizens: up to around £415 in savings per household each year until 2050.
