Biomethane/RNG from landfill in the USA
Applications and technologies
In the USA, and particularly in California, biomethane (RNG – Renewable Natural Gas) is a hot topic. As investment in the sector grows and new policies for incentives come into force, research is being carried out to identify the key players in this new market. Landfill sites are certainly among these, with an ability to produce large volumes of gas for conversion into RNG. We asked the Senior Vice President of Fortistar - an energy company specialising in the generation of energy with low carbon emissions - to explain the advantages and barriers involved in a project to convert LFG into RNG.
