Los Angeles is the location of one of the largest US plants for the conversion of organic waste into renewable energy. The gas generated by this waste, produced in 5 digesters, is employed to produce electricity and heat using several turbines. What makes this project special? The fact that it is a perfect example of California’s ability to reduce the impact of urban refuse by exploiting existing infrastructures.
