Cogeneration and sustainability in soup production: The Nowalijka model
Case history
Step into the world of Nowalijka, a cutting-edge Polish company that has transformed the production of soups and hydroponic horticultural products—such as herbs and soil-free vegetables—into a highly sustainable model. At their Jarosty site, a cogeneration plant has been installed, supplying electricity and heat to all company facilities, primarily fueled by biogas produced from the fermentation of production waste. Only when necessary does the plant supplement its energy with natural gas from the grid. Thanks to this closed-loop system, Nowalijka manages both energy supply and waste disposal internally, enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and production autonomy.
