Cogeneration for oilseed processing: The Ital Green Oil (Cereal Docks) case
Ital Green Oil, part of the Cereal Docks Group, specializes in oilseed processing, producing extraction meal and soybean oil for both animal feed and human consumption.
For its three production plants – a drying facility, an oil mill, and a refinery – efficient energy management is essential. To achieve this, the company has invested in a cogeneration plant under an ESCO model, generating 2 MW of electricity, 900 kg/h of steam, and 1.3 MW of hot water, completely renewing its power supply and heat recovery system.
As explained by Salvatore Fadda with Future Energy, the ESCO responsible for the project, after just one month of operation, the plant had already reduced methane consumption by 0.75 m³ per ton of processed product. Additionally, on an annual basis, a CO₂ reduction of 2,000 tons is expected.
