Cogeneration is essential for the paper industry: it increases production efficiency and makes the Italian sector one of the most competitive in Europe. Thanks to this technology, Italy is now the third-largest paper producer in Europe. For this reason, Assocarta – the Italian association representing paper industry companies – is working to update cogeneration incentives and support the renewal of production plants. At the same time, the association is promoting decarbonisation through the use of renewable gases, aiming for a transition that maintains high energy efficiency across the sector.
