Compliance in anaerobic digestion plants in Ireland: the key rules
Applications and technologies
We asked Oliver Jones, Director of PDC Engineering Ltd, about the main regulations that a biogas plant operator in Ireland needs to be aware of. The fundamental guidelines are CIRIA C736 and C759: C736 concerns secondary containment for tanks and lagoons to prevent potential leaks or spillages, while C759 applies to stored agricultural materials. These standards ensure that drainage systems are sealed and properly connected, guaranteeing safety and compliance over the long term. Following them allows for effective inspections and keeps plants in line with regulations for many years. Find out more in this interview.
