Europe’s dependence on Russian gas: COGEN Europe’s point of view

How can Europe end its dependence on Russian gas by 2030? We asked Hans Korteweg of COGEN Europe, who fully supports the REPowerEU strategy proposed by the European Commission and who argues that cogeneration can play a fundamental role in achieving this. In fact, in Europe there are many old and inefficient plants that consume about 200 million TOE. If these plants were converted into cogeneration plants, there would be less waste and we could reduce the dependence and import of gas from abroad.
