France: the Methabates farm installs a 250 kW biogas plant to produce heat for a greenhouse
Case history
The Methabates farm in western France has over 400 heads of livestock and 320 hectares of land. It has recently installed a 250 kW biogas plant in collaboration with a neighbouring farm. The digester, mainly fed with livestock waste water, has a special mixing system that reduces the risk of biogas production downtimes. The cogeneration unit produces electricity that is fed into the public grid and heat that is used for the greenhouses of a local horticultural business.
