Fratelli Piacenza: sustainability is in the DNA of the old wool mill
Case history
The environment and innovation have been the leitmotifs of Fratelli Piacenza since 1733, an old wool mill located in Italy’s Piedmont region specialized in the production of fine fabrics including cashmere and vicuña. Fratelli Piacenza’s sustainability journey finds its fulfillment with the company’s recent “Sustainability Report”, whose various objectives include being completely autonomous from an energy point of view by 2025. This is precisely where cogeneration comes into play. The cogeneration plant installed has an electrical power of 900 kW and meets two thirds of the company’s total energy needs, while steam and hot water feed the dyeing and finishing departments. With an 85% yield and the obtainment of Energy Efficiency Certificates, the plant can be considered highly efficient.
