Gas market by 2050: biogas and biomethane (RNG) will be able to meet up to 40% of the demand
Renewable gases
According to the Statistical Report published by the European Biogas Association, gas production from renewable energy sources is seeing strong growth. To date, the production of biogas and biomethane (RNG) can meet 4.6% of European gas demand, but in 2050 this could reach 40%. Biomethane (RNG) can be produced from agricultural waste, second harvest crops and wastewater and an increase in the use of biomethane (RNG) in the transport sector is expected.
