Guarantees of origin: Spain opens the register in January 2023
Market and policy
In May 2022, the Spanish government approved the system of the Guarantees of Origin for renewable gases, including biogas, biomethane/RNG and renewable hydrogen. According to the Royal Decree, Enagás GTS will be the body responsible for implementing the new system of Guarantees of Origin, managing requests through a portal and preparing reports for the Ministry. Parties wishing to apply for a Guarantee of Origin must comply with the procedures that will soon be available on the Enagás GTS website, as the register is scheduled to open in January 2023.
