In the Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmap, cogeneration is included as one of the technologies to reduce emissions from the manufacturing industry
Market and policy
In its Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmap, the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the US Department of Energy (DOE), has dedicated a section to cogeneration and to how it can be implemented to reduce emissions, especially in the manufacturing industry characterised by a high heat demand. The Advanced Manufacturing Office is also engaged in numerous projects involving the mixture of multiple fuels in the cogeneration fuel mix, including hydrogen and biomethane.
