Lile Landfill Biofuel: the European project for the production of biomethane from waste
Applications and technologies
The first results of the Life Landfill Biofuel project, launched in 2019 with the aim of demonstrating the technical and economic performance of biomethane production from landfills. The biomethane produced has been used as fuel for waste collection and transport vehicles, owned by FCC Medio Ambiente. The project demonstrated that the use of biomethane from waste as a fuel significantly reduced air pollutants and decreased the environmental impact of road transport. For this reason, it is now planned to replicate its production on other landfills managed by FCC.
