Message from MEP Radan Kanev on the occasion of COGEN Europe’s Annual Conference 2024
Market and policy
At the annual COGEN Europe conference, Member of the European Parliament Kanev, in his video message, highlighted that the European Commission has proposed the ambitious goal of a 90% reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 compared to 1990 levels. However, some challenges for the industry remain, such as insufficient incentives for efficient energy technologies and regulatory barriers that hinder decarbonization and industrial cooperation. Kanev concluded by emphasizing the need to strengthen the legal framework and financial support to promote sustainable transitions.
