The purpose of the subproject involving energy-intensive industries within the EEIP project (Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes) is that of developing new technologies that use a reduced quantity of energy. The advantages of this are many: savings in energetic, economic and environmental terms. The VoltaChem programme, directed towards the chemical industry, is an example of how this sector can use renewable energy for their own production processes.
