More than 50% of energy produced in Italy comes from cogeneration systems
Market and policy
During the AiCARR convention dedicated to cogeneration, Professor Marco Macchi of the Politecnico di Milano asserted that more than half of the energy produced in Italy comes from cogeneration systems. Moreover, in the future, the concept of distributed generation and of “prosumers” - in other words consumer producers - is expected to see further development, increasingly stimulating the micro-cogeneration market. With regard to industry, currently cogeneration covers only 1/3 of the heat demand in this sector and therefore a good margin for improvement still remains.
