For the tanning industry, water purification plays a key role and Conceria Volpiana is well aware of this. In fact, the company has always sent its waste water to a purifier for treatment. Water is a valuable asset for this tannery, just as the efficient use of energy resources and respect for the environment also are. For this reason, Conceria Volpiana has equipped itself with a 635 kW cogeneration plant that produces electricity used in the tannery’s mechanical operations, as well as thermal energy used for washing and drying the hides. The installation of the cogenerator contributed to allowing Conceria Volpiana to obtain the gold medal in the “Leather Working Group”, certification that rewards entrepreneurs committed to environmental protection.
