Process engineering to valorize lignocellulosic residues in biogas production
Anaerobic digestion
In this interview with Benedikt Hülsemann from the University of Hohenheim, the importance of process engineering in biogas production from organic residues is highlighted, with particular focus on lignocellulosic residues (such as straw or wood). These materials can cause problems in the anaerobic digestion process if not properly treated. Therefore, it is essential to adopt process engineering techniques that allow these residues to be adequately treated, making them suitable for fermentation and thus enabling efficient biogas production.
