Reduction in energy costs and support for the electricity grid. The role of CHP in the UK
Market and policy
The UK has ambitious decarbonisation goals: -80% by 2050 compared with the 1990 figures. Renewables are the main means of achieving this target, but the electricity grid must be more flexible and balanced. This is where cogeneration comes into play, which can make companies more competitive on the market and, at the same time, provide support for the electricity grid. In fact, it is estimated that an extra 15 GW of energy will be produced in the next few years thanks to this technology.
