Standby rates: research and survey on best practices for cogeneration
Market and policy
Research on numerous utilities in the United States has shown a different approach to standby rates and therefore different consequences for users with a cogeneration plant. Following the research, a survey highlighted some best practices that should be followed by all utilities in a consistent manner. To name a few: transparency, in other words more and better clarity of information for consumers and differentiation of the tariff for scheduled and unscheduled outages. Starting in October 2020, the results of the survey will be disseminated in a best practice white paper.
