Utah: power generation for Data Centers
Energy efficiency and cogeneration
In Utah, Joule Capital Partners is designing an innovative data center site where energy is generated directly on-site using combined heat and power (CHP). The heat produced during generation is not wasted: through an absorption system, it is converted into cooling for the chips and server areas, making performance more efficient and less taxing on the local power grid. In a context where energy demand is growing due to data centers, electric vehicles, and the manufacturing industry, behind-the-meter generation becomes crucial. As David Gray, President of Joule Capital Partners, explains, this integrated approach helps reduce the load on the grid, optimize energy use, and make the entire system more sustainable and efficient.
